“Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.” ~ Jesus (Luke 18:16)

We believe that God has called parents to raise their children in Jesus' ways. Parents are the ones primarily responsible for training their children to live out their gospel identity in everyday rhythms of life. We are committed both to equipping parents and working together as a church family to help our kids follow Jesus.

Missional Communities work out for themselves what it means to care for the kids among them. Right after the Bible's greatest commandment, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might." God says of all his commands, "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." (Deut. 6:5-7). Parents and MCs work to make leading kids in God's ways a part of everyday life.

On Sundays, our kids get to participate in special classes, where they get to be with one another, learning through age-appropriate lessons, activities and play. We see these Sunday classes as a support to what is happening at home and with MCs.

Beginning with our youngest ones we want Soma kids to feel loved by many in the church family - an expression of God's love for them. As they grow, we want to introduce them to the building blocks of the gospel and eventually see them able to rightly handle the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15) - growing mature in faith, love, wisdom and every fruit of the Spirit as they grow physically, mentally and emotionally.

Serve our kids

Jesus commended childlike faith and loved kids. By serving the youngest in our family, you can expect to see the Father from a new perspective. Whether you have lots of experience teaching kids or none at all, there are many roles you can play to be part of loving and training our kids in the ancient ways of Jesus.

To protect and steward our kids well, we ask all volunteers to authorize a background check. Please contact us if you desire to serve kids in a Missional Community or Sunday gathering.
